Broken Head Aboriginal Tour

On this tour, guests are taken on a moderate 1.6 km (1hr 30mins) return walk while learning about significant places and hearing local history and traditional stories. There are opportunities to learn some Bundjalung language and about bush food, natural medicine, tools, weapons and artefacts.

During the tour, guests often see an abundance of wildlife, such as pods of dolphins, wallabies and the white-bellied sea eagle to name a few. From coastal rainforest to crashing waves and rocky coves, the views on this walk are truly special. We highly recommend that guests wear appropriate shoes and have a waterbottle, hat and sunscreen.

We offer a free pick-up and drop-off services for guests within 6km of the Byron Bay CBD. If you would like to use this service, please provide your pick-up address when you make your booking. Our pick-up time is 3:30pm. Alternatively, if you wish to provide your own transport, our meeting place is at the start of the ‘Three Sisters Walking Track’ which is next to Broken Head Holiday Park (see Map below). Please be aware that you will need to pay for parking within Broken Head Nature Reserve and it can be busy, so it is important that you allow enough time to find a car park.

During tours, guests can expect to hear about Aboriginal existence before colonisation, including how Arakwal people cared for and preserved the land. Delta also explains the devastating impact of settlement and displacement on her people and how her family eventually negotiated their Native Title.

Delta teaches some Bundjalung language and provides information about local bush tucker, natural medicine, tools, weapons and artefacts. At the end of each tour, guests enjoy tasting a variety of delicious bush tucker foods and have nice cup of bush tea and a biscuit.

We offer a free pick-up and drop-off services for guests within 6km of the Byron Bay CBD. If you would like to use this service, please provide your pick-up address when you make your booking.
