As a local guide I see plenty of stressed out city slickers, who come to Byron Bay needing to take some time out , de-stress and unwind. One of the best places to go, isn’t in Byron, its in the hinterland and its called the Crystal Castle.

Byron Bay is host to many natural environments, including land, rivers and sea. There is a wide range iconic Australian wildlife, including; koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, platypus, whales, dolphins, turtles and heaps of different birds and fish, all of which can be seen in their natural habitat – not zoos. Byron Bay is surrounded by water, both sea and creeks and rivers. The Cape Byron Marine Park hosts a variety of ecosystems. In the bay itself you can go whale watching (June-Oct), kayak with dolphins, scuba dive, snorkel or learn to surf. In the nearby Brunswick River you can take a river cruise or a kayaking tour.
Byron Bay is in the middle of a biodiversity hotspot. There are several National Parks both in and near Byron Bay which offer great opportunities to experience a variety of habitats. There are a handful of unique nature-based tours and walks on offer, which include: Night Vision Walk, Minyon Falls Rainforest Walk, Platypus Walk, Yowie Tour.
There are plenty of tour options for the more adventurous travellers in Byron Bay.
